Design, construction, and placement
As early as the planning phase of the build it is a good idea to decide what threats the building and the surrounding area must be able to withstand. In this way, the architect can incorporate the planned protective security measures into the architecture of the building or the urban space. This will also make it possible to keep the security solution in line with practical and operational needs (e.g., health and safety requirements and fire strategy) from the outset.
In addition to facilitating the process, there will typically also be an economic benefit associated with including security considerations from the outset. It can be a costly affair to make significant changes to the construction design, if protective security measures are only considered and added late in the process.
