Electronic access control is often used to control, regulate and record access to all or parts of a building. The Access Control System works by securing selected doors and access points against access without using an authorised access medium. This could be, e.g. an electronic access token, card and/or biometric scanner presented to a reader.
Like anything else, an access control system is only as strong as its weakest link. It must be taken into account that a person can lose or transfer their access key to an unauthorised person who then gains access to the premises. Therefore, it may be necessary to combine the reader with another technology, to verify user access rights.
For the installation of the system, you can follow the installation instructions from Insurance & Pension Denmark (IPD/ F&P). However, this is not a requirement in the context of protective security. In general, attention should be paid to the requirements for installing electronic surveillance in the context of protective security, rather than burglary protection. Access control systems are subject to the Data Protection Act (and Regulation, GDPR) if person identifiable data is stored in the system.
