Protected spaces

Protected spaces are also often referred to as ‘Safe rooms’ or ‘Panic rooms’. These are high-security rooms or areas with an enhanced level of protection, where persons can seek refuge during an attack. The area or room can be built locally or delivered as a finished product to be installed at the desired location.
The room is designed based on the risk assessment to withstand an incident for a set time and a predetermined impact force.
When creating a safe room, one often uses an existing room which already has a certain amount of strength in terms of construction. This should be a room consisting of load bearing elements, which are reinforced to extend the resistance time. In this way, the room can achieve a high level of resistance to fire, ballistic impact and blasts, among other things. There are several products that can help extend the time of resistance. Attaching e.g. a plywood sheet to the inside of a brick wall, will significantly increase the time it takes to break through the brickwork.
To achieve the right level of protection, a combination of several products will often be the solution.
