Fire technical installations

In order to achieve holistic protective security, fire technical installations must also be considered in the context of the organisation's security measures.
The Danish Building Regulations (BR18) describe the level of safety to be achieved in a building in the event of a fire. It is crucial that the fire technical installations comply with the fire safety requirements of the building regulations according to the defined fire safety level and that all fire installations in the building are operated and maintained according to prevailing regulations.
It is up to the developer (owner) and their advisors to decide, how the fire protection is carried out and to ensure that the fire requirements of the building regulations are met. There may, therefore, be a difference in the way a building is fire-protected, provided that the method used can document how the required fire safety level is achieved and maintained throughout the life of the building. Fire-technical documentation describes the building's use, location, use of fire technical installations, emergency response capabilities, etc.
The different methods of documentation can be found in the BR18 under chapter 1.3.1. Typically, the more complex a building is in terms of fire safety, the more need there will be to demonstrate that the chosen fire safety solutions meet the requirements of the BR18.
