How is the Knowledge Bank useful?

In the Knowledge Bank you will find information on protective security from an architectural perspective, guidance on establishing and implementing security culture, and information about various security principles.

This includes inspiration and guidance on both safety and security in relation to violent extremism, divided into three categories: Architectural Solutions, The Human Factor, and the Protective Security Handbook.

Protective security is not only concerned with the implementation of security measures in the physical space, but also includes attention to human behaviour and organisational management of the threat. Here you will find inspiration and guidance on security culture and emergency planning.

ARCHITECTURAL
SOLUTIONS

In addition to the implementation of known security measures in buildings and on sites, a wide range of architectural solutions are available. These may include manipulation of the surrounding terrain and building geometry, which to varying degrees can help mitigate as well as minimise the impact of a violent extremist attack.
