Locks

In protecting against physical attacks, it is a good idea to include burglary prevention as part of your security planning, to stop the attacker from gaining access to the building. It is important that all components of the protective security solution, have the same resistance ability. This also applies to the lock unit, which is an important part of the solution’s overall robustness.
There are mechanical, electronic and mechatronic locks. The latter two can be incorporated into a building's access control. Electronic locks without a mechanical cylinder are rarely seen. Details of different types of locks, their components and standards, as well as installation instructions, can be found in the Security Catalogue of the Danish trade association Insurance & Pension Denmark (F&P). However, it is not a requirement to comply with these in connection with protective security. The optimal lock solution must be assessed considering the overall security solution in a given context. The lock components should be certified, to ensure that they meet the required level of resistance.
