CCTV

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance is an effective system for documenting incidents and serves as an auxiliary tool, e.g. to a guarding function, as it allows a large area to be quickly surveyed from a central location. Even in darkness and weather challenges. A CCTV system can include many types of cameras, including fixed, moving, infrared, thermal, colour, black and white and in various combinations. Each with its strengths and weaknesses.

CCTV surveillance is also a powerful tool for investigations. However, it should be noted that CCTV is restricted by legislation (TVO-loven) and the Data Protection Act (and Regulation, GDPR). Thus, there may be certain conditions that must be followed e.g. in relation to how long data may be stored, access to recordings, etc.

Closed-circuit television surveillance is also an effective preventive tool, as attackers rarely want to leave traces, either in the planning phase or at the time of the crime.
