Edged, pointed and blunt weapons

If you want to protect yourself against e.g. a planned knife attack, it is a good idea to complete a risk assessment, to identify the appropriate level of security.
It is difficult to secure the public space against attacks with these types of weapons, as potential attackers can remain anonymous until they are near their victim. Amongst several known examples, this happened in November 2019, during the London Bridge and Borough Market terror attack.
However, if it is possible to work with perimeter protection or access control at e.g. an event, one could utilise measures such as body searches or electronic surveillance, for instance scanners and closed-circuit television surveillance, to achieve early detection
In buildings, internal security measures can be used to protect against knife attacks. Here, both in public and private buildings, access-controlled sectioning and the establishment of safe rooms can be used to protect individuals.
