It is important to consider protective security measures as early as, the programme phase , of the construction project. This way the architect can incorporate necessary security measures into the architectural realisation of the building or urban space. In addition to implementing known security measures in buildings and on sites, there is a wide range of architectural solutions and tools to work with. This can include manipulating the surrounding terrain and the geometry of the building, which, to varying degrees, can prevent a terrorist attack or minimise its consequences.
